A Stonehaven care home is supporting a 5,000 mile walk for Alzheimer’s Society.
Haven Court Care Home, part of nationwide health care provider Four Seasons Health Care, is supporting writer and video biographer Philip Williams as he walks around the coast of Britain to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and generate awareness of the condition.
The home will be welcoemd Philip on Monday and offered him food and drink for the day. Philip then spent the day chatting to residents, telling stories about his adventures so far.
Philip Williams, whose mother has Alzheimer’s and is a resident at Four Seasons’ Emberbrook Care Home, began his 5,000 mile walk in 2010. To date he has so far raised £55,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Louise Glasgow, Haven Court Care Home Manager said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Philip to the home and introducing him to our residents who will be keen to hear his stories. Alzheimer’s Society is a charity close to our hearts and with over 800,000 people in the UK suffering from dementia it is vital to have the right steps in place to support those living with it. We wish Philip all the best in his remaining journey.”
As well as generating charitable contributions for Alzheimer’s Society, Philip is documenting his experiences for a book and radio series called “Character’s on the Coastline”.
