A Mearns community has got behind a fundraising nearly new sale for babies and children.
Businesses and residents in Gourdon have donated raffle prizes and home bakes for the first ‘New 2 You’ sale, which will raise money for Gourdon Primary School and Tadpoles Toddler Group.
To be held in the Gourdon Hall on Saturday June 7, the sale is a chance for people to sell and buy children’s clothing to 12 years of age, toys, games, books, dvds, prams and strollers, and nursery equipment.
Organised by local mums, it is based on the successful Auchenblae Nearly New Sales, which have raised thousands of pounds for charities.
Lynn Stephen, chair of Tadpoles Toddler Group, said parents had come together to organise the event to provide a forum for people to pass on toys and equipment their children have outgrown, and raise money for good causes.
She said: “We wanted to give people an opportunity to sell their clothes, toys and equipment locally. The New 2 You sale has received great support from the local community so far and we have a good selection of raffle prizes and pledges for home baking to sell on the day – but we’d always be happy to receive more!
“Seller numbers are still available and cost just £3 and all money raised through the sale will be donated to Gourdon Primary School and Tadpoles Toddler Group.
“Many of the things bought for young children are only used a handful of times so are still in new condition and the sale will be an opportunity to pick up a bargain.”
Doors open at 9-11am, and the sale will be held in the Gourdon Village Hall on Queen Street. Entry is £1.50 and refreshments will be available. For more details email email@example.com or call into Tadpoles Toddler Group between 10am and 12noon on Fridays in the Gourdon Hall.
