Efforts to attain a Renal Dialysis Unit at the Kincardine Community Hoispital in Stonehaven have been given a boost in the form of a donation from Stonehaven Rotary Club.

Dr Anne Humphrey who attended last week’s meeting, updated members on fundraising towards the proposed satellite unit. The unit has been the main focus for the Rotary Club to help this year. A donation of £6,000 was made last November following the Beaujolais Gala Dinner & Auction. Recently the Club held a Celebrity Charity Dinner which allowed them to make a further donation of £7,000 towards the planned unit.

Dr Humphrey said the target was £500,000 and with recent donations, the fund now stands at almost £400,000. She added that consultations are already taking place around plans for the unit. It is thought that an extension to the hospital will be the best option. The hopes are that the unit will be able to dialyse four to five patients at one time.

Thanking the Club for the donation, Anne said “We very much appreciate the support of the Stonehaven Rotary Club in our fund raising efforts. Although the target is getting closer, there is still a way to go and we are grateful for any donations made to this very worthwhile and urgently needed facility at KCH.”
