The Bay to share art of fish

Calum Richardson, Owner of The Bay, Stonehaven, is collaborating with a European Exchange Programme ‘Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs’ to share his 19-year strong knowledge and passion for the fish and chip industry.

Simona, the aspiring entrepreneur from Brussels, will be joining Calum to learn all about the management of a thriving fish and chip business, to understand the requirements of the shop, in terms of premises, equipment and hygiene and how to prepare a great end product, how to supervise staff and how to create genuine relationships with customers and suppliers.

Calum Richardson, Owner/Chef of The Bay Fish & Chips said: “Through all of my work with The Bay I do everything I can to try to change the stereotypical, and often negative, image of the fish and chip industry and encourage people to see it as a proper business.

“By taking part in this European Exchange Programme, I feel like I am helping to spread the word a little further about the quality of Scottish fish and chips and our industry whilst showing the benefits of running your own business.”

Simona Ferrulli said: “I feel incredibly excited about my upcoming time at The Bay and I’m eager to get going and really soak up as much knowledge as possible.”

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme, which gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other participating countries.
