Laurencekirk Gala are in need for new volunteers to come forward and take over the committee at their upcoming AGM next week.
A number of roles on the committee will be made vacant at the meeting with current members pleaing with the ‘good people of Laurencekirk’ to ‘step up’.
The AGM will be held on Monday, November 16 at the Mearns Community Campus at 7pm until 8.30pm. The group will also be handing out cheques to successful funding applications.
A post on the Laurecenkirk Gala website page stated: “Due to family and work commitments the following posts will be made vacant at the AGM - Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
“We know that it isn’t ideal for the main post holders to be standing down at the same time but it unfortunately can’t be avoided.”
“SO - in order for the Gala to go ahead in 2016 we desperately need new people to step forward.
“If nobody does then there will be no Gala which would be such a shame given the hugely positive feedback we have received from the community this year.”
It has been noted that current post holders will make themselves available for help and support as well as volunteering when possible.
The post added: “So good people of Laurencekirk, now is the time for you to step up and pick up the Gala baton.
“We can assure you that being a part of the Gala Committee is extremely rewarding and is a great opportunity to make new friends and get to know your community even better.”
