A PROPOSAL for a travellers’ site near Portlethen is being reviewed by Councillors after it was appealed.
The site is proposed for some disused farmland near Findon and, if approved, would see five pitches being created along with utility buildings, toilet and laundry facilities.
The application, which was made by Alex Stewart earlier this year was originally turned down after an outcry from the local community.
However councillors have decided to review the plans, as part of the appeal councillors visited the proposed site.
When the proposal was originally rejected, Aberdeenshire council cited as a reason that: “by virtue of the proposal’s scale, location and design, it would distract from the quality and character of the landscape in a sensitive rural location.”
The travellers site is not the first proposed development on the site to be refused with housing development and a garden centre being previously refused by the council.
