Video: Mairi Evans elected Angus North and Mearns MSP

Mairi Evans, the newly elected MSP for Angus North and Mearns, said she “cannot wait to get started” in her role.

Speaking at the count, after her victory was announced, she said in her speech that it was an “incredible honour”.

Miss Evans, SNP, received 13417 votes; Alex Johnstone, Scottish Conservatives and Unionist Party, 10,945; John Ruddy, Scottish Labour, 2752; and Ewan Davidson, Liberal Democrats, 2265.

A total of 117 ballots were rejected.
