Warning to car owners in Newtonhill

NEWTONHILL residents are being warned to lock up their cars.

The local community council was told by a police officer that would-be car thieves from Aberdeen were targeting the area,

PC Craig Milne said: “They are trying to steal cars. Owners should take extra care to ensure that their vehicles are locked, and watch out for anyone acting suspiciously.”

Newtonhill councillor Ian Mollison commented: “Our village has very little crime, and it is easy to get complacent. One opportunity for thieves can be on a freezing morning.

“Drivers can be tempted to leave the engine running until the car warms up, and while they have a cup of tea in the kitchen.”
