Three caring friends from Laurencekirk have organised a wedding dress dance in Montrose to raise money for local cancer charities.

Claire Lindsay, Jill Robertson and Tracey Walker will be staging the event in the Park Hotel on Saturday, August 30, from 7.30pm to 12.30 am with all the proceeds going to local cancer charities Friends of Anchor in Aberdeen and Maggie’s centres in Aberdeen and Dundee.

Claire said: “We wanted to raise money for this awful disease. Each one of us has lost or has family and friends still battling this disease and it is something very close to our hearts.

“It is an opportunity to wriggle back into your wedding dress for a glamorous night at the Park Hotel, but don’t worry ladies if you do not have a wedding dress - you can wear a prom dress, ball gown or just your favourite frock.

“We also want to see those gents dressed as the groom with the kilt swinging or a dapper suit!”

Tickets are £20 per person, which includes entertainment by Burlesque. You will also be served stovies and a glass of bubbly on arrival.

There will also be raffles and other fund-raising events throughout the night.
