MARYKIRK Raft Race Committee is gearing up to hold another Car Treasure Hunt next month, following the success of last year’s event.
The event will take place on Sunday, May 8, starting and finishing at Marykirk Village Hall.
The charge for entry will again be £2 per person, and the hunt will start at 2pm, with a free “cuppie and piece” available for all entrants back in the hall after the race.
Raffle tickets will also be on sale for the raft race’s major raffle to be held on race day itself the following weekend - May 15.
Prizes for this raffle include a new bike from Cycle World worth over £230, which will be selected to suit the winner’s size afterwards, a DAB radio, a £50 voucher for dinner at a local hotel, stainless steel gardening tools, dinner for two at an Indian restaurant, and many more.
After the race is over, there will be a full afternoon’s entertainment in the Marykirk Park, with a Kennel Club regulated Companion Dog Show and nine bands including Fisher Folk, Heidrun and the Zugli Drummers.
Last year more than 500 people attended the afternoon event in the park, and it is hoped that even more will come along this year.
An even wider range of stalls and amusements will be present, with the huge mobile slide once again making an appearance, hot food, and a marquee bar for those in need of vital “refreshments”!
Craft stalls will range from candles, hand-made jewellery, manicure products, clothing, kids’ stuff to that old favourite - the Pampered Chef.
Entries for the Raft Race itself are now coming in to the committee, but there is still room on the river for more, so please pick up an entry package from the Marykirk Hotel if you are interested. Help is available with flotation drums if required.
There is also still space for more craft stalls in the marquee, so if you have a product you’d like to show or sell, please contact Wilma Walker on 01674 840138.
