AC MillInn 3 MS Utd 0

IN the shadow of Bennachie, Inverurie's Strathburn park was the neutral venue for this league cup semi final.
The match started briskly with the enthusiastic Stonehaven lads taking the game to a youthfull MS side. Allan and Dunn playing up front were supported by an energetic Sinclair, Scott, and Cordiner in the middle of the park. The passing from both team
s in the early stages was controlled and measured. On fifteen minutes a Muir clearance was taken down by Dunn who went down the left wing, supported by Scott, their one two sent Dunn clear whose squared pass left ALLAN the simplest of chances to open the scoring.
Unfortunate not to increase the lead, Cordiner had a shot saved by the keeper's legs shortly afterwards. An industrious Sinclair was busy between both boxes and occasionally breaking beyond his forwards sniffing for a goal. Allan had a long range drive pushed onto the bar on 41 minutes to which Dunn reacted but his header was directed over.
In the second half AC Mill Inn continued grinding MS down with the crisp passing football they displayed in the first half. Despite a change made by MS Utd. at half time, the pattern of the game remained the same. In terms of possession and shots on target, Mill Inn dominated. With chances aplenty scorned in the opening exchanges of the second half, a Cordiner free kick was headed home by DUNN on the hour, his looping header from 15 yards leaving the keeper stranded.
Shortly after the second goal a double substitution brought fresh legs into the middle of the park. Gellatley and Reid, both valuable assets, displaying the strength in this squad and both playing their part before the 90 minutes were up. MS Utd posed little threat throughout the game, their only real threat from a quickly taken free kick finding Lawson at full stretch to protect his goal. On 70 minutes SINCLAIR sealed the result. A Smart pass into the right hand corner was crossed by Scott and whilst Sinclair's header hit the post, he remained on hand to poke home the third, sending AC Mill Inn through to the final of the Stephen Shield.
This Saturday AC Mill Inn take on Dyce at Pitmedden Road in the quarter final of the North of Scotland Cup.
