THREE local girls, Leonie Simpson from Stonehaven, Chelsey Lownie from Gourdon and Sonia Maitland from Portlethen, helped their football team clinch the North U17s Indoor Title at the Aberdeen Sports Village last weekend.
The East End Girls stormed their way through their group with a 100% record over both weekends and were a force to be reckoned with. The team were undefeated and finished 9 points clear at the top of the 17s indoor league scoring 25 goals along the way. The girls put on quite a show and the skills on display were a good advert for girls football with praise coming from referees and spectators at the standard of play.
This annual tournament is open to all age groups that compete in the SWF North League. East End had teams entered in all three age groups, with both the 15s and 17s winning their leagues which meant double delight for the club. The 17s Girls are coached by local man Keith Simpson and Gary Campbell from Kaimhill. The team are also the current North League Champions and hope to retain their title when the new season kicks off in March.
