ARDUTHIE B TAKE CUP AFTER FANTASTIC FINAL

DESPITE cold and blustery conditions almost 80 girls turned out for the 2010 Kincardineshire Primary Schools Netball Summer Cup on Saturday morning.

The event was held at Mill O'Forest Primary and five schools from the area were represented, Arduthie, Inverbervie, Laurencekirk, Mill O'Forest, and Newtonhill.

With eight teams competing the initial stages were played in a group format. The many spectators were treated to some superb play and thankfully also serviced with hot refreshments from the volunteer tuck shop!

The wind proved the biggest obstacle for all teams making passing and particularly shooting a real challenge. Arduthie B and Mill O'Forest Blue came out top of the groups with Newtonhill and Arduthie A in 2nd place.

These four would play off for places 1 to 4 whilst Inverbervie A & B, Laurencekirk and Mill O'Forest Yellow played off for places 5 to 8.

In both sections the play continued to be of an impressive standard and the girls all did well to battle through the conditions.

In the semi finals Newtonhill overcame Mill O'Forest Blue and Arduthie B took the honours against classmates, Arduthie A.

Arduthie A and Mill O'Forest Blue could not be separated for 3rd and 4th places, drawing after full time in the play off and subsequently drawing after a period of extra time, both teams agreeing to share the spoils.

A fantastic final was promised with Arduthie B meeting Newtonhill, both teams having had a great season. The match did not disappoint and was goal for goal in the first half. Arduthie took an early lead in the 2nd half and managed to capitalise on this claiming the victory, Newtonhill however fought to the end.

Final positions were: 1 Arduthie B, 2 Newtonhill, 3 equal Arduthie A and Mill O'Forest Blue, 5 Inverbervie A, 6 Inverbervie B, 7 Laurencekirk and 8 Mill O'Forest Yellow.

Presentation of the Summer Cup was made to Arduthie B and the P6 League Shield was presented to Inverbervie. The P7 league was won by Lathallan who unfortunately were unable to attend the tournament.
