Athletics and triathlon

Aberdeenshire Council Athletics Development are bringing AVIVA Sportshall Athletics Startracks to Stonehaven.

This is a two-day event for boys and girls P2-7 & S1+ and a chance to take part in a wide variety of Track & Field Athletics events and activities.

Qualified UKA Athletics Coaches will be in charge and all participants receive a goody bag.

Go along to Mineralwell Park on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th July.

AVIVA Startrack Athletics consists of participants taking part in a wide variety of athletics activities covering run, jumps, throws and relays, team and individual events.

Participants are coached in their own age groups were possible with places being offered to P2-7 & S1+. At the end of each of the area programmes all receive a goody bag consisting of (draw string bag, wrist bands, water bottle, T-shirt and a cap) and results which are taken over the sessions are sent after the event along with additional information about groups & AAC in their areas.

Coaches delivering are all NGB Qualified Athletics Coaches with Aberdeenshire Council Athletics Development and have a wide experience in athletics events & working with all age groups and abilities/disabilities.

Hopefully participants will enjoy their experiences in a wide variety of athletics events and activities and aim to continue along a progressive pathway. Youth triathlon sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 18:00-19:15 at Knockburn Loch, near Strachan.

The first session will take place on Monday 18th July and they will continue until the 5th September. Following this indoor sessions and weekend training will be arranged.

Everyone is welcome to come along, even if it is for a taster or a “one off”. Individual sessions are also available.

These sessions will require a minimum number to go ahead so please register your interest to Laura Murray.

All cycle training will be completed off road therefore mountain bikes are essential rather than road bikes. You are required to provide your own bike and helmet and both must be in good working order.
