Mill O’Forest primary school recently held their annual badminton championships at Porthlethen Academy.
This event is always well supported both by children and parents and the emphasis is always on enjoyment. The singles event is fiercely contested however in the doubles and mixed doubles events less experienced players are teamed up with more experienced players to give everyone a fair chance and the opportunity to progress to the later stages.
Credit has to be given to all of the children who competed in good spirits and were all supportive of each other irrespective of age or ability. There were many great matches and lots of entertainment throughout the day.
For many of the younger players this was possibly their first taste of competition and they really seemed to relish the experience. In total 34 children competed, 21 boys and 13 girls, from P3 through to P7, Josh McKay, P6, coming through as the only treble winner on the day.
