Bervie Caley Youth get grant

Bervie Caledonian Youth Football Club has become the lucky recipient of a £500 community grant from Scotmid Co-operative. The Club has used the grant to purchase strips including tops, shorts and socks for their under 17 team.

Founded in 2010, the club operates three eleven a side teams as well as a popular soccer sevens club on a Saturday morning for primary age children.

Club Chairman, Graham Anderson said, “Bervie Caley Youth Football club aims, as a community club, to maintain and expand the enjoyment of a sport for local youngsters. At all times we are promoting the health benefits of good physical exercise and diet along with team work and sticking together as a team.

“Two years ago, there was no football club for youngsters here and now we are going from strength to strength. We’ve found that local businesses do support their local teams, which is fantastic. Our community grant from Scotmid means that the team look the part when they go out on the pitch and we do appreciate the support, it means a lot to our club.”

Representing Scotmid’s North Regional Committee, the member group who allocated the grant, Alan Stokes from Aberdeen commented, “It is always a pleasure to be able to help local organisations through our Community Grant Fund where we can. Encouraging young people to explore different opportunities for a fit and healthy lifestyle is something that Scotmid is always pleased to support so we are only too happy to help Bervie Caley Youths.”
