Stonehaven U13 girls 0
Stonie faced a daunting trip to the league’s form team who had just beaten the league leaders. With most of Stonie’s team still thinking about their first day at High School they very quickly lost goals. Finding themselves 7-0 down after 15 minutes there then came a moment which might mark a turning point in the young team’s season. Lisa Porter broke clear and was unlucky not to score. Deesside scored another before half time.
Amazingly after the mauling that had gone on before the rest of the game was relatively even and Stonie could and should have scored until two late goals gave Deesside a slightly flattering scoreline.
Magic Moment was a double tackle from Eilidh Mitchell and Best Player was Lisa Porter who caused Deesside some problems with her pace.
Team: Chelsea Traynor, Kirsten Johnston, Eilidh Mitchell, Katy Townsend, Molly McVey, Emily Grundy, Anne Laing. Subs: Lisa Porter, Brooke Farhquar, Lucy McVey.
This was a classic end to end game that had the spectators gripped throughout. Stonehaven dominated the early exchanges with Porters pace, Farquhar’s trickery and Grundy’s subtlety carving out a number of half chances and the defence was solid. Only a great save stopped Porter from opening the scoring.
The first half ended goalless but Westdyke brought on a couple of strong physical players and the game slowly changed. Some great saves from Traynor kept the score down then a couple of low Westdyke shots crept in.
Lisa Porter scored on the counter-attack and there was some great Stonie pressure until near the end Westdyke’s third sealed it.
Magic Moments were Mitchell and Grundy’s first time passes to set up Porter. Player of the Match was Kirsten Johnston who was immense in defence.
