Fog cancels the Saturday scramble

Have your say

After a week of lovely weather the fog rolled in on Saturday morning and stayed there for the rest of the day. This meant that the scramble competition was cancelled and will be rearranged for this Saturday.

This will be the last competition on the winter course before the summer course comes into operation at the start of April. Preferred lies will be in use for the entire month. While playing with Grant Robb last week, Ross McAllan had a hole in one at the 105 yard 8th hole using a wedge.

Members are again reminded that there are a few spaces remaining at the Italian night at the club on Friday April 6. Please phone the club to book a table.

Members should note that sheets are up on the noticeboard for some of the knockout competitions.

Just a reminder, if any member is interested in the outing to The Scottish Open please add your name to the list at the shop or contact a member of the staff before the end of the month. Bookings are not being taken at the moment as the list is only to see if there is any interest in the outing. A decision will be made at the start of April as to whether there is enough interest. The club wishes junior member Josh Halliday every success in the forthcoming Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish Boys championship at Murcar on April 10.

It is with regret that the club announces the passing of Donald Ross, a former member of the club for over 40 years. Donald was a member from 1965 until 2005 when he found the hilly terrain of Stonehaven too much and took up membership at Edzell. Donald served on the Council for a short time as Entertainments Convener. Some of Donald’s highlights were two holes in one at the 6th hole and also a couple of successes in the Ruby Stephen mixed competiton with his wife Sheila. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
