Luthermuir WFC entertained Aberdeen Development on a dry but cold day at Luthermuir Park.

Muir were hoping to continue their good form from their away win at Stonehaven just a few weeks ago. The first real chance of the game came after four minutes when Allison won a corner down the left following some good play, Murison fired over the corner low and Lownie watched as her shot was blocked then cleared.

Good work from Lownie and Allison gained another corner out on the far right, Walker whipped it over where it was missed by all at the back post.

Aberdeen were growing into the game and starting to put some nice passing to create a few chances but nothing in the final third. They won a corner and Calder headed it clear from the danger area.

An injury to Allison after 18 minutes meant Mowatt replaced her with a re-shuffle to the line-up.Calder then won the ball in midfield and passed to Lownie who put Murison into the box but she fired her shot over the crossbar.

The goal came on the 25th minute when Aberdeen crossed from the right and Charles came out to catch but bounced the ball on the ground. The attacker was quick to react where she fired at goal, it came off the post and another one fired it home for 1-0.

This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Luthermuir and they struggled to get going with Aberdeen creating more chances with some nice play. Just as the half was coming to an end a corner was swung over from the left and wasn’t cleared by the defence, Aberdeen poked it towards goal and it missed everyone as it rolled into the net for 2-0.

Luthermuir knew that the next goal was vital and looked to push Aberdeen back into their own half but the visitors came out the stronger.

The game was pretty even for the first 10minutes then Aberdeen started to take more control. On the 61st minute, the Aberdeen midfielder picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired it straight to the top corner where Charles brilliantly tipped it round the post. The resulting corner was cleared by Luthermuir then Brough came off for Fotheringham to join the action. Aberdeen had a few chances but again Charles made some great saves.

Middleton conceded a foul down the right on the 74thminute and the ball was whipped into the box where the Aberdeen player took it down then fired it over Charles for 3-0

This all but ended the game for Luthermuir and, apart from some good saves from Charles in the Muir goal, the score line would have been worse. It was one of those days where the whole team had an off day and let the chance to jump into fourth slip away from them.
