Bervie took on this Brechin team on Sunday at the Haughs. Bervie fielded a team with 5 regular players missing.
Brechin took the lead early on when their midfielder powered his way into the box and smashed a shot high past keeper wood.
Bervie were under pressure but good defending by Stephen and Sincliar kept the Brechin team at bay.
Brechins wide players were also causing Bervie problems but the Beattie brothers kept them out. Bervie were unlucky when a freekick by Martin Wood was well saved by the Brechin keeper, from the resulting corner shots from Grieg and Beedie were blocked on the line and eventually cleared.
The game went from end to end and from a McSloy pass to Jordan Grieg’s shot went narrowly wide.
After half time Bervie went close when Wardrop set up Greig whose shot was deflected for a corner by a Brechin defender. Bervie equalised when a through ball fell for the Brechin keeper and he smashed the ball against Stuart Beddie and into the net.
Bervie pushed for the winner but it was The Old Bolag who made it 2-1 when their forward broke down the left and cut his shot back from the bye line for one of his team mates to slot past keeper Wood.
Bervie pushed hard to the end and were rewarded when from a series of corners from Kleszyk, the ball fell for Beedie whose shot was blocked on the line but the rebound fell for Martin Wood who blashed his shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-2.
A good performance by Bervie who never gave up the battle against a good Bolag side.
