Bervie started their first match of 2014 with a win after a pitch inspection by the referee deemed it playable.

The match started with both teams creating chances at either end from the start but respective goalies re-acted well.

Bervie got their first corner of the match after threeminutes and, from the Morrison cross, the ball was fumbled by the goalie and Forbes followed in with a header from close up to score.

It was a great start, but the lead didn’t last long.

After another Bervie attack, the Culter goalie kicked a long ball which was headed on by the striker who followed on and beat the defenders to chip over the advancing goalie after just eightin minutes.

Bervie midfield were struggling a bit with the tricky Culter players but the defence were more than a match for them.

Darling was booked after 23 minutes for a foul on a player who was advancing in on goal, unlucky but possibly necessary to thwart the danger.

Bervie re-gained the lead after35 minutes with a goal similar to the first, a Morrison corner and a poor header from a defender followed up by Forbes.

Forbes then scored his hat-trick after a poor clearance which was fired in from eight yards through a packed defence after another corner.

Culter then scored their second in the 41st minute from very good play down the left hand side and a cross that was put in and hit off the far post and into the goal. Whether it was meant or not, it was a good goal and unsaveable.

Bervie then had an equally good goal as Smith received the ball from Forbes on the left, advanced a few steps and fired a lob high over the keeperinto the far side of the goal - again unsaveable - thus it was 4-2 at half time.

Bervie were advised at half-time to anticipate the onslaught and hold tight or score again and they nearly did when Bellu went past the keeper but could not keep the ball in play.

Culter then scored in the 52nd minute, a long shot fired in from just over the half way line bounced awkwardly and went over the diving Bervie goalie.

It was just what Bervie were warned about but, before Culter could use this goal to push the match, Bervie scored their fifth when Bellu flicked the ball over the defenders and keeper and then caught itto side foot in just before it went past the post.

This knocked the wind out of Culter and the match ended up with Bervie dominating but not scoring.

Then, in the 75th minute, Culter scored from a quick free kick just outside the box.. Dandie got booked then had to come off just after the Culter goal, Brown was moved to right side of midfield and Montgommerie into left back for his first start.

This actually helped Bervie and Brown was very unlucky not to score after a lay off from Forbes which he fired over from close range.

TYhe pressure was maintained until the whistle and Bervie won comfortably even though the score line didn’t reflect this owingto missed chances and offsides.

A good start to 2014, and a structure to move forward with for the upcoming matches.
