Confident win for Bervie

Bervie Caley u17 3

Cove BC u17 1

Bervie had to play this home match at Portlethen owing to their home pitch at the Haughs still being closed due to sheep ingress.

Hopefully they should be back on their own pitch this coming Saturday.

With the defence being really solid and the midfield working hard, Cove had no clear cut chances in the first half.

Bervie did have a few, two by Morrison over the bar then just past the post, Forbes a good catch by the keeper and Bellu shot hit one post then the other and back into play to be cleared by Cove!

The first half came to a finish at 0-0 with Bervie players being told that was their best of the season so far,

Cove gave it a real push for the first 10 mins after the re-startbut Bervie held them at Bay then started to push and create chances themselves.

Darling should have scored but had too much time and tried to place it past the keeper who got his hand to it and deflected out for a corner, from which there was another narrow miss by Dandie.

Bellu then had two real good chances to score but rounded the keeper and hit the side netting.

At this point, Bervie took off Dandie for Brown then went to 4-4-2 with Bellu moving up front, much to the relief of Forbes who got some help at last.

Bervie then got a free kick at the edge of the box. Cove were still organising their wall and not paying attention when Bellu advised Darling to take the free kick which he did and it was in the back of the net before Cove lifted their heads. The ref had blown his whistle so the goal was good;

From this goal, Bervie took the confidence to go for the match and scored again twice in the next 10 minutes, firstly through a ball up the right from Brown to Forbes who ran on, rounded a defender and netted into the far right of the goal, the next was from a Frater tackle into Morrison then through to Bellu who took a nice touch past a defender then hit home a cracking shot.

M. Smith was sent off, thus Bervie were down to 10 players, and Cove grabbed the opportunity with four minutes to go to score.

Bervie got their substitute, Buchan, on the pitch who lasted two minutes and was sent off after an altercation with a Cove player, but held on for the last two minutes.
