Stonehaven’s development squad got off to a solid start in their first game of the season against a very strong Aberdeen Select side at Hazelhead on Sunday.
After some early exchanges, Georgia Veitch scored her first ever goal with a strike from the edge of the box to open the scoring for Stoney.
Aberdeen created several chances, which were being well defended by Erin Beedie, Caitlin Denniston and keeper Catriona Holley.
They did eventually got back into the game and scored three times before half time.

Holley and Beedie switched positions and Beedie had some good early saves in the second half.
Stoney’s midfield of Sam Caie, Georgia Veitch and Aisling Doyle were creating some good chances for Lucy McVey.
Morgan McKenna came on in midfield for her first start for the club, and tackled well.
Aberdeen added three more goals in the second half before a through-ball by Lucy McVey was well finished by Georgia Veitch to make the final score 2 – 6

Stonehaven Youth Girls will be holding a football event to encourage younger players to go along and train with the intention to have teams for under-nines, under-11s,under-13s and possibly two under-15 teams.
The club is growing and currently has 30 girls signed and training across the15s, 13s and development squads at the moment.
The club will be holding an event this Saturday, June 1, when there will be an hour’s training and games with primary one to four girls at 1pm then an hour’s training with primary five to seven girls at 2pm.
The under-threes will also be playing an exhibition match amongthemselves for the girls to watch.
