It will be third times the charm for Hive this weekend as they look to take on Colony Park in a game that has already been called off twice.

Hive were looking to bounce back this past weekend against Inverness City in their McBookie.com Superleague match, but it was postponed due to a waterlogged Lister Park pitch.

With no date scheduled for the return fixture Hive look to take on Colony Park in the GA Engineering Inter Regional Cup 2nd Round.

The first scheduled game between the two was called off on December 12 due to a frozen pitch with the rescheduled January 9 fixture also called off, this time due to a waterlogged pitch.

Hive will be in for a tough game as Colony sit third in the First Division East, undefeated in 11 games and dished out a 12-2 defeat at home to Cruden Bay last Saturday.

Ian Esslemont Stonehaven FC manager is looking for a good performance from players who have hardly played in the wintery conditions.

He said: “Jim George and I promised the squad that we would rotate players throughout the season and this game brings us the opportunity to do this, in saying that we shall have to be wary of this opposition as Charlie Ferris will be looking to take a premier league scalp, even though Charlie and I are old friends from way back.

“We have been making our training sessions as match related as we can given that we have hardly played since the shutdown from December 19, the players will have to be physically and mentally prepared for what we see as a difficult game.”

Hive have played Colony Park twice before, in the cup at home. Hive ran out 3-1 winners back in 2012/2013 in the Domino’s Pizza North Regional Cup which the club went onto lift. The other fixture between the two sides finished 2-2 and needed a penalty shootout to decide, again Hive won 4-2 in the GA Engineering Inter Regional Cup 2nd Round.
