Stonehaven welcomed West Region Superleague First Division side, and 2012 winners of the Scottish Cup, Shotts Bon Accord to Glenury on Saturday in the Scottish Junior Cup 2nd Round.

Despite heavy rain the pitch held up well and by kick off conditions were perfect for what was set to be a cracking cup tie.

Hive had the first chance on 2 minutes when a free kick into the box was only just missed at the back post and the visitors did well to clear.

Five minutes later and good short play down the Hive left saw the ball fall to Armstrong who burst into the box but saw his effort blocked at the front post. The visitors had a chance on 10 minutes when, following good play down the Hive right, the ball was played into the box but Marriott sent his overhead kick wide.

On 16 minutes the ball was played wide over to the far post but the shot, luckily for Hive, went wide of target. Two minutes later, the marauding Cross was fouled and McKee’s free kick was well saved by Knowles.

Just under halfway through the first half a long McTavish throw found Cormack but he could only send his shot wide under pressure.

Cross came close for Shotts on 23 minutes when the ball was lost but Knowles was equal to his effort and the defence cleared.

Jordan Reid came agonisingly close a minute later when his ball into the box was deflected off of the Shotts crossbar and away to safety.

A minute later and Knowles was again called into action to push away a shot from the edge of the area.

On the half hour The Hive had a major let off when a shot from just outside the penalty area was saved but spilled by Knowles but he was up sharply to make another block and the defence scrambled the ball away. Adams was next to threaten at the other end but his shot fizzed over the top.

Just over a minute later and the deadlock was broken. The ball was played down the Hive left and found JORDAN REID one on one and he calmly slotted past the ‘keeper.

Shotts kept threatening and a ball into the area on 44 minutes was well headed away by Schmid.

Jordan Reid had a chance on the half time whistle but his effort was deflected off the post and away.
