Johnshaven runaway winners over Glendale

JOHNSHAVEN 8

GLENDALE 1

Johner hosted the bottom league side and ran out very comfortable winners despite an early scare.

The home team were guilty of some poor defending when a long throw in was not cleared far by the defence and an away striker was on hand to toe poke the ball home. 0-1.

This was the wakeup call Johner needed though and Robert Milne soon got them on level terms after playing a one-two with Paton and cutting inside to shoot off the post and into the back of the net. 1-1.

R. Tringham picked up the ball on the right hand side and drove at his full back in the box, only to be fouled and the penalty awarded. Ross Blease stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake blasting it into the bottom corner. 2-1.

In the 36th minute, Johner gave themselves a two-goal cushion. Robert Milne battled for the ball up front well and was on hand to force a defender into making a mistake and, when the ball fell for the home striker, he ran in on goal and placed it past the keeper. 3-1.

Half Time Score 3-1

Just ust after the re-start, J. Dalgarno played in R. Tringham but the winger pulled his shot wide.

Glendale XI appeared to be tiring in the second half and Johnshaven sensed this and began to really move the ball about quickly.

In the 55th minute Johner won a corner kick after some good play down the right from R. Tringham and J. Dalgarno. Paton took the corner and it was headed home by Ross Blease. 4-1.

A couple of minutes later, StevenSmith picked the ball up from around 25 yards out and unleashed a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to make it 5-1.

On the hour mark Bruce replaced Slavin.

Glendale XI were up against it and made things even harder for themselves when they were reduced to 10 men.

A couple minutes later, boss Williams made a couple more changes with D Stephen and T. Dalgarno replacing Beedie and Scott.

Robert Milne completed his hat-trick in the move of the game. Bruce passed the ball up to R. Tringham who flicked the ball towards the striker for him to tee himself up with one touch and blast the ball into the roof of the net. 6-1.

Johnston then missed a sitter after a Paton corner, but the centre half made up for it moments later when he showed great skill to beat three men and lay the ball off to Steven Smith who finished well for his second of the match. 7-1.

Robert Milne got his eighth of the game after heading home from a T. Dalgarno corner.
