The local derby between Luthermuir WFC and Stonehaven Ladies ended in a win for the former after a great first half performance.
Luthermuir travelled the short distance to Stoney hoping to continue the good form that saw them just miss out last week in beating the league leaders.
With Stonehaven looking to take advantage of that slip up it was Luthermuir who were first to attack.
After two minutes a foul on Lownie down the left was fired at goal by Brough but the keeper saved well.
The game started to swing towards Stonehaven with some nice passing in midfield but they could not break down the Luthermuir defence. Stoney had a great chance when some neat work down the left gave Penny time to float a ball in behind the back line where the attacker took it down well and fired at goal from eight yards, Charles saved brilliantly and pushed it clear.
Luthermuir made the break through on the 11th minute when Brough cleared the ball from her own half and Lownie raced in between the last defender and off towards goal where she wrong-footed the keeper and rolled it into the empty net for 1-0.
Stonehaven then dominated some of the game for the next five minutes but any shots were handled well by Charles.
Luthermuir doubled their lead when Brough was fouled 30 yards from goal down the left. She flighted the ball to the back post, the keeper missed it and Lownie headed in for 2-0.
Stoney then pushed Luthermuir back into their own half and a foul by Calder 20 yards out was fired at goal; it hit the wall and came back off the crossbar to safety.
Boyack then did some great work down the left wing before crossing to Murison who fired her shot just wide of the right hand post.
Stoney then had a great chance when a freekick was floated into the box and their attacker rose to head into the corner of the goal but Charles brilliantly got across to tip it away.
Luthermuir then broke up field straight from this where Brough played the ball to Lownie who took it down and then raced away from the defenders before coolly slotting it past the keeper for 3-0.
Luthermuir then looked to sit back and counter attack Stoney who had a few chances before half time but the Luthermuir defence did well and stood firm.
‘Muir were now happy to sit back and soak up the attacks from Stoney and look to take the three points back down the A90. They replaced Middleton and Nicol with Lawrence and Andrew joining the action to freshen up the back line.
Stoney created a great chance where the attacker had space on the edge of the box on the 49th minute where she just fired past Charles’ right hand post. Luthermuir then gifted a chance to Stoney when a ball played high towards the back line was headed back to goal by Walker but it fell short, Charles raced out but Bowie nipped in and slotted it home for 3-1.
The game became pretty even for the next 15 minutes with neither side creating much chances.
Great work by Lownie down the left had her clear of the defence again and, as she cut inside, she fired a cross that Boyack just headed wide of the post.
After 71 minutes, Lownie found herself clear down the right and as she cut inside towards goal she fired her shot just over the crossbar. Luthermuir then replaced Murison for Allison to get a run out. Stoney were still dominating the position but failing to get past Charles who was on great form.
Excellent work again by player of the match Lownie, when she ran the ball into the corner and won a corner kick. Walker crossed it over and Boyack just fired it over the crossbar from the edge of the box.
Luthermuir then brought on Burn for Lownie and gained a corner down the right, Walker fired it over and it hit off the crossbar and was cleared.
The final chance of the game came on the 88th minute when Allison raced on to a through-ball and headed to goal, she fired a low shot that was smothered by the keeper.
