’Muir wind up an excellent season

Kemnay Ladies 0

Luthermuir WFC 2

The first real chance for the visitors was when good work by Egginton released Lownie who fired her shot low but the keeper parried it round the post.

Brough won the ball in midfield and played it to D Young who fed the ball in behind the defence for Egginton who fired her shot straight at the keeper.

Luthermuir broke the deadlock when Brough won the ball in midfield, passed to Lownie who drew the keeper and fired it over her for 1-0.

Egginton went off with an injury after 23 minutes, replaced by Crawford.

Good work on the right from Lownie to Crawford then had Lownie away again but the keeper saved her shot well.

Godsall created space then fired a pass over the back line where Lownie raced onto the ball but the keeper again pushed her shot away for a corner.

Bruce fired it over and it was headed just wide. The last chance of the half fell to Kemnay when a corner was swung over but it missed everyone at the back post and went out.

Luthermuir knew that the next goal would be vital and looked to press their opponents again. Two minutes into the second half, Brough headed the ball on to Murison who worked a one two with Lownie before fizzing her shot just wide of the post.

Muir then dominated the game for the next 10 minutes but wasted more chances in the game to double their advantage.

The ball was won by Lownie out on the left and as she raced by the defender she cut the ball back to D Young who shot past the post.

Lownie and Murison combined again but the shot was again just wide of the target.

Eventually, after 85 minutes, the Muir girls got the second goal when good work down the right by Murison created a chance when she cut inside and fed the ball to Lownie who guided it into the path of Middleton and she raced into the box and fired it low past the keeper for 2-0 to seal the win.

Luthermuir then made a couple of changes with J Young and Stewart joining the game with Lownie and Murison coming off.

Luthermuir finished fifth in the league for their season which is a great achievement from the girls after only their second season in existence.

The squad added a further four players before the end of the league campaign and are looking forward to Season 2014.
