Stonehaven Youth Football Club have been awarded Standard Level status in the Grampian ClubCAP Accreditation Scheme. The aim of the scheme is to promote ‘safe, effective child-friendly clubs’ and being awarded this status publicly demonstrates that a club is ‘an efficient well-managed club which is nondiscriminatory and fosters youth development’.

In a letter to SYFC, Fraser Govan, Active Communities Officer with Aberdeenshire Council and ClubCAP Manager said: “Congratulations, your club has met the requirements to achieve ClubCAP accreditation at the Standard Level.

“I would like to confirm that due to your club’s successful accreditation assessment, your club is now entitled to the benefits of the scheme as appropriate.”

A delighted Richard Thomas, from SYFC, told the Leader: “The award is hopefully evidence that Stonehaven Youth FC and Stonehaven Community Football Club will continue to look for ways to improve our service to the community. As a member of the Stonehaven Community Sports Hub, I hope I can play my part to help more sports clubs in the area achieve this accreditation. As the CFC motto goes: We are all Stonehaven!”
