Stoneywood got this league match underway, however Webster immediately intercepted playing the ball forward to McLaughlin who played in Avis down the right who won a throw.

Blacklaw received the ball feeding Webster who rode a challenge before getting an effort away which went wide. After this promising start for the home side Stoneywood found their feet and pressed forward testing the home defence however Gordon got a block challenge in to see the danger off. Bervies next chance came after a clearance from defence found McLaughlin who fed Avis however his ball to Webster was intercepted before he could get his effort away.

Bervie were showing glimpses of the type of football they are capable of when McLaughlin, Thomson and Blacklaw combined to play in Avis however his cross was cleared. The match was evenly balanced and it was the visitors who nearly too the lead when a ball was cleared forward and sat up nicely for the forward who tried his luck from fully 30 yards out with his effort narrowly clearing the bar.

Bervie grabbed the lead though when a neatly played in ball found Webster just inside the box, his initial effort came back off the post but Webster was on hand to slot home at the 2nd attempt.

Bervie nearly doubled their lead when Blacklaw took a quick throw to McLaughlin whose effort went wide. Bervie continued to press and thought they had grabbed a second when Thomson volleyed in a corner spectacularly only for it to be disallowed with the referee blowing for a retake, the retake was half cleared to Davies on the edge of the box whose effort went just over. As half time approached Bervie were caught out with players out of position and the ball and the ball forward caught the defence cold allowing Stoneywood to equalise.

Bervie got the second half underway determined to make amends for letting their lead slip, and again it was quick throw that started the move, Blacklaw receiving and finding McLaughlin on the right who neatly lobbed the keeper to put Bervie back in the lead. Bervie extended their lead straight after kick off, Blacklaw fouled around 25 yards out, Webster stepping up and hitting a low effort which found the bottom corner.

Just when Bervie seemed to be in control Stoneywood turned up the pressure and a ball into the box caused confusion between keeper and defence and the ball was only half cleared, the return ball finding a man unmarked to slot home, before Bervie could catch their breath the match was even a cross from wide finding the big number 22 unmarked on the edge of the box whose header was placed past Leisk.

Bervie were now under constant pressure and struggling to get the ball forward and retain possession and it was Stoneywood who grabbed another goal this time another ball from wide was pulled back finding the forward with time to slip the ball past Leisk to give this visitors the lead.

Bervie thought they had equalised when Websters free kick from the half way line bounced over the defender, McLaughlin’s strong challenge on the keeper saw the ball break to Blacklaw who slotted home only to see the referee pull play back penalising McLaughlin’s challenge.

A disappointing result for the home side which sees them lose ground on the race for 2nd spot, however other results were favourable and with a return match against Stoneywood still to come there is still plenty to play for.
