Stonehaven Youth Football Club are within touching distance of achieving their goal of SFA Community Club status.

SYFC have a lot to look forward to in 2015 and say it is a matter of ‘dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s to become an SFA Community Club.

The Stonehaven Lions invited SYFC to discuss the charity fundraising proposal as they now look to realise the potential of being a real community club.

Other member clubs include Stonehaven Juniors FC, Cowie Thistle FC, Stonehaven Athletic FC and Stonehaven Ladies FC.

The achievement, while great for Stonehaven and the club, would also be the first of its kind for the North of Scotland.

SYFC’s Richard Thomas said: “There is a lot to look forward to in 2015 for SYFC and the meeting with Stonehaven Lions is just the start.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Lions for listening to what we had to say about our ambition to be more involved within the community and look forward to hearing from them in the near future.

“They have also kindly offered to make a donation on our behalf to Aberdeen Children’s Hospital which is close to my heart following the birth of my son.”
