Girls unlucky

Deveronvale 6 Stonehaven 5

Stoney girls U13 have come a long way this season in developing through hard work and this game highlighted this but also reminded everyone that there is still much work to be done.

Stonie were up for the game from the off and raced into an early lead when Laing turned to fire in from a Farquhar pass. Late in the first half Porter blasted two scorching shots in, McVey nearly brought the net down blasting in from all of two yards and Mitchell slotted in a forceful drive. Mitchell almost added a sixth diving to push a Townsend corner past and the only blemish was a late goal conceded. The second half was a role reversal and Deveronvale kept reducing the deficit and building momentum until a late slip gave them a winner.

Player of the match: The last gasp defeat still couldn’t hide how good the whole squad looked first half.

Magic moment: Will there ever be a goal as popular as Molly McVey’s?

Team: Chelsea Traynor, Emma Christie, Katy Townsend, Eilidh Mitchell, Emily Grundy, Brooke Farquhar, Ann Laing. Subs Danielle Imray, Molly McVey, Lisa Porter.
