Duncan was first to test the Sunnybank ‘keeper on the quarter hour as his free kick was well saved and the ‘keeper made an easy save from Lewis Shand on the rebound.
Lewis Shand tested the ‘keeper minutes later but the visitors defence cleared after the initial shot was spilled.
The Hive took the lead that their early play deserved in 34 minutes when the ball was played into the box and with the visitors claiming for offside Low took advantage to fire home his first of the season.
Stonehaven should have been 2-0 up when Glass played the ball to the front post and Pyper could only shoot wide.
Lewis Shand had Stonehaven’s first chance of the second half but when the ball fell to him in the box he could only shoot wide.
The second goal wasn’t long in coming and after 63 minutes a ball in from Steel was palmed out to Duncan who fired a left foot effort into bottom corner.
Sunnybank nearly pulled a goal back in 70 minutes when Guthrie saw his shot well saved by Smith.
Nicoll was unlucky in 75 minutes to see his cross-cum-shot hit the bar before being cleared to safety.
Stonehaven sealed their place in the second round of the Dominos Pizza North Regional Cup with a comfortable 3-0 home win over First Division Burghead Thistle at Glenury on Saturday. Lewis Shand, Martin Shand and Chris Steel were the Stonehaven scorers.
Stonehaven are back to Superleague action tomorrow when they take on Banchory St Ternan at Glenury, kick off at 2:30pm.
