Have your say

There was very little golf played at the weekend due to the poor weather.

On Sunday, only five singles and four pairings ventured out in the brickhard frosty conditions.

Young Ross McAllan had an excellent 37 points in the singles section and Chis Taylor and Ludwick Metelski had a nett 58 in the doubles section.

Singles scores: Ross McAllan (4) - 37pts, Jim Lonie (8) - 35, Ian Smith (7) - 31, Bill Chalmers (13), George Innes (17) - 28.

Doubles handicap scores: Chis Taylor (12) & Ludwick Metelski (6) - 58, Kevin Duguid (11) & Ewen Campbell (11) - 62, Eric Innes (8) & Jim Hepburn (10) - 65, Kenny Duncan (5) & Ian Wood (9) - 75.

There was therefore no movement in the leading qualifiers for the winter league finals on March 10/11.

With only four more weekends to go before the finals the top eight players in the singles section presently are Ian Smith (372), Chris Taylor (364), Jim Lonie (363), John Findlay (362), Steve McGhie (358), Terry Middleton (352), Duncan Cursiter (352) and Bob Smith (351). Lying in wait and in need of some good rounds are Bill Chalmers (350), Donald Mitchell (344), Stuart Paul (344) and George Forrester (340).

In the doubles scratch section clear leaders are Neil Irvine & Harry Roulston (624) and Stewart Allsop & Brian Lawson (663).

There is a battle for 3rd and 4th places with the following pairings all liable to produce some good scores to jump into the qualifying spots: Colin Arthur & Alan Officer (677), Davy Callaghan & Davy Summers (678), Willie Pittendreigh & Graeme Adamson (681), Kenny Duncan & Ian Wood (684) and Alistair Duncan & Brian Hunter (688).

The leading pairings in the handicap section outside those that are top four in the scratch section are: Alister Barnett & Tom Simpson (589), John Neal & Douglas Henderson (600), Martin McCoy & Colin Polson (605) and George Deans & Gordon McHardy (606).

Lying in wait are the inform pairing of Malcolm MacEwen & Sandy Walker (609), Ian Hastie & John Starrs (611), Kenny Duncan & Ian Wood (614) and Eric Innes & Jim Hepburn (616).
