JOHNSHAVEN completed their home fixtures on a high note with a 3-1 victory over Rothie Rovers, already champions of Division Two East.
johnshaven had a different staring line up this week, with some of last week’s team unavailable and a number of players returning to the side.
In the 9th minute a good run by S. Smith down the right saw him cut inside and his final shot went narrowly over the bar.
In the 11th minute a knockdown by S. Smith found McKellar but his volley went straight to the Rothie keeper.
Philip then tried to lob the keeper, but the ball went just over the bar.
A few minutes later S. Smith crossed to Philip but his header when over the bar.
A shot from Leon Dundas went wide, then in the 37th minute a long range shot from Dalgarno just shaved the Rothie crossbar.
In the 40th minute Leon Dundas was in on the keeper and tried unselfishly to pass to Smith at the back post but just overhit the pass.
In the 47th minute McKellar cut inside but his shot went straight to the Rothie keeper.
johnshaven opened the scoring in the 49th minute. A through ball from McKellar found Leon Dundas who ran through and slotted home.
On the hour mark Smith played the ball across to Dundas and his shot was blocked by the diving Rothie keeper.
A minute later a Rothie corner was played into the six yard box and a header crept just inside the near post for an equaliser.
A McKellar corner was then played into the box and Darryl Smith shot wide on the turn.
Johnshaven should have scored when S. Smith rounded the keeper and knocked the ball down to Dundas whose shot was goal bound until a Rothie defender deflected the ball over the bar.
Johnshaven keeper MacLean then had to dive at the feet of an oncoming Rothie player to prevent a certain goal.
In the 69th minute Johnshaven were back in front. Scott Beedie played the ball through to Leon Dundas his shot was parried by the Rothie keeper but Dundas carried on with his run and slotted home his second goal of the game.
In the 75th minute McKellar was fouled in the box and Ross Blease made no mistake from the spot.
some great play by Johnshaven got the ball to S. Smith and his curling effort just cleared the bar.
In the 83rd minute Slavin cleared the ball off the Johnshaven line. Play continued and Ross Blease cleared off the line.
Johnshaven attacked and Dundas shot wide after linking with McKellar.
on the final whistle a Scott Beedie half volley was saved by the Rothie keeper.
Man of the Match was James McKellar.
Although they have missed out on the promotion spots, Johnshaven have had a good season. If they were to win their final game, away to Burghmuir, they would finish third in the table.
