Johnshaven lose on artificial pitch

Johnshaven travelled to Aberdeen to play on the artificial pitch at Kaimhill for the first time and it took them a while to get used to his different surface.

In the 15th minute an RGU free kick was played into the box and a player ran in and shot into the top corner.

In the 26th minute RGU ran through Johnshaven’s defence and a brave save by Jamieson deflected the ball over the bar.

In the 31st minute the ball was headed on and a diagonal shot beat the diving Jamieson.

In the 40th minute another fine save from Jamieson kept out a close range shot.

In Johnshaven’s first attack of the second half the keeper gathered before Dundas.

It was 3-0 in 56 minutes when a defensive header was intercepted and an angled shot found the net.

A couple of minutes later an RGU corner was played to the edge of the box and an unmarked player powerfully headed home.

Just after this some good play from Johnshaven between Mennie, Dalgarno and Smith resulted in a shot from Smith which went straight to the RGU keeper.

In the next attack Stuart Beedie crossed to Ross Blease whose header was just off target.

Johnshaven scored when Smith played the ball across to Stephen who put in an inch perfect pass to Ross Blease who hit a low shot past the RGU keeper.

1n the 71st minute Smith went on a fine solo run which ended with his shot going just over the bar.

In the 85th minute a free kick by Smith was confidently caught by the RGU keeper.

In the dying minutes Dalgarno regained possession of the ball and played it in front of Scott Beedie but the RGU keeper bravely dived at his feet and smothered the ball.

Johnshaven’s Man of the Match was Ross Blease.
