Johnshaven lose out to old Aberdonians

Johnshaven travelled to Inverdee for an evening game on August 15.

In the 6th minute a cross from S. Smith found Hood at the back post but his header was blocked for a corner.

In Johnshaven’s next attack Hood beat the offside trap but he blazed his 20yd shot over the bar.

Johnshaven took the lead in the 9th minute. Hester did well to beat his man, then squared the ball to Lee Hood and his first time shot beat the diving keeper.

In the 18th minute Old Aberdonians hit Johnshaven down the right and a low cross was turned in by a Johnshaven defender for an own-goal.

Johnshaven pushed for the second goal when Dalgarno played the ball to S. Smith but his shot just missed the target.

In the 38th minute a corner by S. Smith found Beedie but his header went over the bar.

In the opening minute of the second half, Ross Blease had the ball in the back of the net for Johnshaven but the referee deemed it had struck his arm before be slotted it home so the goal was disallowed.

On the hour-mark a Ross Blease header went over the bar.

Just after this a Smith shot was saved by the Old Aberdonians keeper.

In 69 minutes a free kick by Old Aberdonians was parried by Johnshaven keeper Smith. It rebounded back to one of their players who ran in and put them into the lead 2-1.

In the 72nd minute another free kick by Old Aberdonians was played into the box where it was headed home past a helpless keeper.

In 80 minutes Cruickshank passed to Beedie whose shot looked goalbound until the keeper got across to save.

minutes later another Beedie shot was pushed over the bar to deny Johnshaven a goal.
