Johnshaven thumped at Newmachar

AN under-strength Johnhsaven crashed to defeat at Newmachar on Saturday.

Johnshaven had to travel without several of their players due to work commitments and with regular keeper Jarred MacLean ill, Kevin Harrison who pulled on the gloves to replace him in goal.

In the 2nd minute a through ball from Scott Beedie found Dundas who was one on one with the Newmachar keeper who saved his shot.

In the 9th minute Hector who played the ball across the goalmouth but a Newmachar defender just beat Scott Beedie to it.

newmachar took the lead in 22 minutes. A Johnshaven defender misshit the ball as he tried to clear and the ball landed at the feet of a striker who blasted home.

On the half-hour mark an effort by Hector looked goalbound until it was cleared off the Newmachar line.

A minute later Johnshaven keeper Harrison made a great save when he dived to his left and stopped an 18 yard shot.

In 38 minutes Scott Beedie was one on one with the Newmachar keeper but had his shot saved.

Johnshaven were forced to make a half-time substitution when Grant Philip replaced the injured Leon Dundas.

In the 53rd minute a low shot from the edge of the box was pushed onto the post by keeper Harrison.

A couple of minutes later a shot from Scott went narrowly over the bar, then on the hour Scott Beedie beat his man but his shot went wide.

A minute later a long ball found the Newmachar striker and he scored with Johnshaven looking for offside.

In the 73rd minute Newmachar hit Johnshaven on the counter attack to further increase their lead to 3-0.

four minutes from time Johnshaven pushed for a consolation and were again hit on the break and Newmachar once more found the net.

In the dying minutes a left-foot strike by Philip was well saved by the Newmachar keeper.

Johnshaven Man of the Match was Jack Dalgarno.
