KENNY HITS THE JACKPOT IN FUND-RAISING DRAW

STONEHAVEN Golf Club member Kenny Gordon has scooped the £1000 first prize in the club's fund-raising draw.

The 22-handicapper, who has been a member for 15 years, picked up his prize from the club's main sponsors, Ivan and Kathleen Groundwater, of Groundwater Lift Trucks, who drew all the winning tickets at the weekend.

A delighted Kenny said he would use some of his winnings for Christmas and some on a golfing trip to South Africa in March with a dozen or so other members of the club.

Other prizes:

Dinner, bed and breakfast for two for two nights in the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews: Leon Bourque from Aberdeen.

Aspire Golf package of lessons and practice sessions: Alastair Gilmour from Stonehaven.

A 22-inch flat-screen TV set: Ann Christie, from Stonehaven.

Whisky: A Stables and Ruth Forbes.

Vodka: F Sangster.

Rose wine: G Deans and M Gowans.

One dozen golf balls: G Allan, W Wisely, C Andrew, S Smith, Shona Barclay.

Members are asked to note that the clubhouse will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and on New Year's Day and January 2. The course will be open to members all four days but locker rooms will be closed. The Winter League competitions, however, will go ahead as normal on Sunday, December 27, and on Sunday, January 3.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all golfing readers.
