Kinneff Tug o’ War Club brought home an impressive range of medals from the UK Indoor Championships in Perth. The Stonehaven club provided several of the Scotland squad and played a large part in the excellent results the national sides produced.
The 600 Kg for men competition had James Gerrard, Ross Davidson, Stuart Millar, Callum Watt and Rhys Anderson in the B Team. The A team were untouchable throughout and won the Championship in some style. The B team meanwhile were winning their own battles and the Kinneff boys took a well deserved bronze medal.
The 680 Kg for men contained James Gerrard, Ross Davidson and Stuart Millar in the B Team. This event was a showdown between the World Champions at 680 Kg (Scotland) and at 640 Kg (England). The Scots were totally dominant and easily won the Championship. The upset of the day was provided by the B team who overcame an 80 kg weight deficit to defeat Northern Ireland A for the bronze medal.
In the mixed 600 Kg, each team contains four men and four women. The B team had James Gerrard and Ross Davidson. The event was dominated by England’s A team who took the gold medal despite Scotland A’s best efforts. The major surprise was the B team who overcame the vastly more experienced England B to take the bronze medal in a thrilling three end match.
Kinneff continued to enjoy success in the UK Open Club Championships, despite fatigue and the exertions from the International event. There were no more medals but there were excellent performances in the 560 Kg, 600 Kg and 640 Kg events.
This concludes Kinneff’s indoor season and it sets the whole club up for an assault on the World Championships 2012 when the event is staged at Perth.
