Long trip to Elgin for the U13 girls

It took Stonie U13 Girls some time to wake up from their long journey up to Elgin on Saturday and they were four goals down before they started to play. Porter, Laing and Townsend went close but they went in at the break 5-0 down.

The second half was an even affair with chances at both ends. Elgin added a sixth however a fine solo run from Grundy pulled a goal back before Elgin finished the scoring.

Stonehaven: Chelsea Traynor, Emily Grundy, Katy Townsend, Ailsa Adams, Eilidh Mitchell (capt), Lisa Porter, Ann Laing. Sub: Erin Beedie.

Player of the match was Eilidh Mitchell who was everywhere.

Magic Moment was a wonder save from Chelsea Traynor.

the next day, the girls took on Deeside in a friendly and drew 3-3.

The younger side had the better of an exciting draw at Hazelhead. Lucy McVey scored from a Mitchell pass and Mitchell fired in a thumping shot. Deeside scored two in the first half and added a third after the break.

Stonie struck a third when McVey neatly flicked home a Townsend pass. Despite late pressure Stonie missed a number of chances to score a winner.

stonehaven: Katy Townsend, Ailsa Adams, Erin Beedie, Eilidh Mitchell, Erin Henderson, Briony Wright, Lucy McVey. Sub Caitlin Mair.

Player of the Match might have been the dynamic Mitchell, but young Erin Henderson was excellent as a second half goalie.

Magic Moment - comedy capers as the normally reliable Katy Townsend forgot she had come out of goal at half-time as she made a wonderful ‘save’ on the halfway line!
