a damp dreich day featured an uncompromising game of full-on rugby between two good sides. Mackie U16 defied their tag as slow starters to storm ahead with a try after 8 minutes and despite some tense moments, they never surrendered the lead and always looked stronger. The game did ebb and flow with Garioch contributing some good passages of play in their turn and it took until 15 minutes from time until Mackie made the game reasonably safe.
Mackie forwards are becoming a force at this level, certainly in loose play. The back division have some clever flourishes and can spin the ball wide efficiently as well as using intelligent kicking to turn their opponents.
