Mixed foursomes competition takes place

It was the final medal for some in preparation for our Open competition this Saturday. Comfortable winner of the extra medal was Bert Droy with an excellent nett 59 to win by two strokes from Donald MacFarlane. Colin Arthur was a further stroke behind.

On Sunday 18 couples played in the annual Ruby Stephens mixed foursomes competition. In an exciting finish there was a four way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Steve Winstanley & Julie Mackintosh, Kenny & Carolyn Duncan, Grant Robb & Pam Leiper and Bert & Pam Droy all finished with a nett score of 65.5. Steve and Julie won thanks to a better inward half. They now go on to represent Stonehaven in the Save the Children competition at Glenbervie.

Leading junior medal scores - Harry Anderson(34) - 58, Cameron Davidson(11), Mason Jenkins(14) - 66, Sam Wright(11) - 69, Cameron Grimshaw(36) - 81.

The Wednesday Medal Final was played last week and Richard Hampson was the winner by 1 stroke from Graeme McFarlane with a nett 61.

While playing in a home match against Letham Grange, Keith Taylor holed his tee shot at the 132 yard 8th hole. He used his rescue club. His playing partner Bert Butchart was there to see it go in. It was Keith’s second hole in one.

The club has a Tribute Night with “Shania Twain, Cher, and Tina Turner” on Saturday 1st September, tickets £10 each. There will be food available on the night which should be pre-ordered, this is not included in ticket price. Anyone interested should contact the club as soon as possible.
