With 40 Stonehaven members at their annual Cally Outing at Huntly a reduced field took part in last Saturdays extra medal in glorious conditions.

Eric Witton came out the winner scoring a nett 60 pipping the father and son duo of Josh and Mike Halliday by just one shot.

Three of Stonehaven’s most ‘experienced golfers Harry Roulston, Derek Freeland and Ian Smith were another shot back on nett 62s.

With the temperatures soaring for the Cally Outing at Huntly past champion Bruce Ferguson kept his cool to take first prize, two shots better than Alan Cruickshank who continues his good form after carding a gross 64 in last week’s Wednesday medal.

The highlight of the day however came at Huntly’s par 3 165 yard 17th hole, playing partners David Callaghan and Brian Lawson were aware that Alan’s 7 iron shot to the blind green was close based on the line and also the noise from hitting the pin, but it was only upon walking onto the green that Alan’s fourth hole in one was confirmed.

Stonehaven Ladies Open takes place this coming Sunday the entry fee is £12 and times are still available for late entries.
