A 5 point victory for Stonehaven in the Friday night A&K League with the away team winning by a single shot at Belhelvie and the home team by 8 shots.

However with only two matches remaining it is unlikely that the Stoney team will progress to the semi finals.

In the Barclay Harvey competition Stonehaven managed a win on aggregate over Ballater at Torphins. On a very tricky surface the four led by John Lawson went down by 3 shots but Graeme Penny’s rink recovered the situation with a ten shot win to progress to the next round against Drumlithie.

Aberdeen and Kincardineshire carried on their winning run with a 14 shot victory against Perthshire at Inverurie on Saturday and are now set for what should be a league decider at Moray this weekend against Highland County.

It was a mixed week for the Bowls Scotland Championship contenders. Graeme Penny had a good win in the singles against Ballater and Jim Roddie/ Alister McIntosh were successful in their pairs match against Transport BC. However both the triples and rinks teams were similarly beaten by Bervie BC - each by one shot with the rink game going to an extra end.

Better news for the Senior rinks contenders with two of the three remaining teams skipped by John Lawson and Dave Mundie going into the last eight after wins over Portlethen BC and Woodend BC respectively.

The Stonehaven Mearns league team notched up another three points against Fettercairn thanks to the away team led by Willie Donald returning with an 8 shot victory which more than made up for the home team losing by 4 shots to claim the bonus point.

In a friendly fixture at the Recreation Grounds on Sunday a team from Falkirk BC, although enjoying the hospitality of their hosts, conceded defeat by 88 shots to 65.
