Alisha Rees, 16, from Torphins has been selected to represent Team Scotland in Athletics (100m and 200m) at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September.
Six track and field athletes will join Team Scotland, which comprises 27 youngsters who are all Under 18.
The other sports to be contested at the games are swimming, tennis, archery ,squash and boxing and Rugby 7’s.
This weekend, however, the Banchory Stonehaven Athletics Club Athlete will be closer to home as she competes for Scottish Schools in the Schools International meeting against England, Wales and Ireland at Grangemouth stadium on Saturday, July 18.
Winning the Scottish Schools U17 100m and 200m last month, Alisha was awarded with the Frances Barker Shield for best overall female performance.
This included a record breaking run of 11.76 in the 100m, breaking the 45 year old record of 12.0.
Positioned at the top of the u17 national rankings in the 100m and 200m Alisha will be hoping for a similar performance this weekend against tough competition.
