Alex Geddes takes a one shot lead into this weekend’s second round of the Cowie Cup.
Seventy six shots were taken by Alex with the highlight of the round an eagle two at the par 4 13th and with his handicap of 18 meant he signed for a season low score so far of 58. This was one shot better than Sam Wright whose 6, 6, 6 finish wasn’t what he wanted. There is a cluster of players on nett 61 and 62 and dependant on how they all play this weekend the Cowie cup is very much up for grabs.
Leading Scores :- A.Geddes 76(18) 58, S.Wright 72(13) 59, T.Hyder 89(28) 61, G.Masterton 68(7) 61, C.Davidson 67(6) 61, S.Dempster 68(6) 62, D.Cursiter 76(14) 62, K.Riddell 68(5) 63, K.Taylor 75(12) 63, C.Starrs 74(11) 63. The draw for the Willie Watt Match play competition is now on the noticeboard for the top 64 players who qualified.
Due to the recent Saturday competition postponement, this Saturday in addition to the Innes medal, the JM Low qualifier and the rescheduled second round of the Cowie Cup players with a handicap of 18 and below will be trying to win a place at Royal Aberdeen on Tuesday June 3. This tournament sponsored by the European tour could see the eventual winner teeing it up in the Pro-Am prior to the Scottish Open in July.
Two Open competitions are on the horizon: the first is a Gents Open Texas Scramble taking place on Saturday May 24 and the second is our Mixed Open Greensomes. Both competitions can be booked by contacting the golf club or through their website.
