Fine day despite Storm Abigail

Abigail (... Clever these weather folks….) had her party and left for the year when winter league golfers teed off early doors on Saturday. What a fine day it turned out to be with scores to match the fine conditions.

Those who played on Sunday were dealt a dud hand as normal service was resumed with much rain and wind, however two game guys Gordon Ironside & Stuart Wright were last seen heading out into the gloom at 10.30 ... I can only assume they were back before dark but at least it saved them a potential shopping trip in Aberdeen …a fate far worse than getting soaked and cold

A Bushnell Rangefinder has been lost from the previous Saturday (between the 16th Hole and the car park). If anyone has come across this item please let club manager, Ian Hastie know. If anyone wonders what a Bushnell is it is a device to tell a golfer how far from the pin they are. Not something your loyal scribe requires as I’ve never hit 2 shots the same distance with the same club... A random generator would be as much use to me.

….and so to some sparkling scores…...

Leading Singles scores (points): D Hepburn, S McGhie, M Ritchie (all 40 points); J McFarlane and D MacFarlane (39); C Taylor, D Milne and S Hutcheon (38), A Geddes, R Napier, C Gordon, A Darragh, K Riddell and J Nowak (37)

Leading Scratch Pairs: S Dempster/B McGillivray - 61, W Pittendreigh/G Adamson - 62,

C Arthur/A Officer - 63, N Irvine/H Roulston – 64

Leading Handicap Pairs: M McCoy/C Polson – 55, N MacArthur/D S Henderson - 56, M Halliday/S Campbell – 57, A Barnett/T Simpson & B Hunter/M Hunter (both 59)

It’s a busy time in the clubhouse right now - bookings are being taken for “Bring a Party to a Party” night in the clubhouse on Friday 11th December but be quick. Tickets are priced at £23 per person which includes a three course meal and burn the calories off right away by dancing the night away to Jacksons’ disco from 7.30-12.30.

Christmas lunches & meals are available throughout December (up till 23rd) and high teas most Friday and Saturday evenings. Please check club website for details.

Due to the recent wet spell the club request, where possible, if players are fit and able able to carry their golf clubs rather than use a trolley this would be appreciated.
