The Stonehaven Ladies Golf Club annual prizegiving & dinner was held on Saturday.
Fiona Lamont was crowned champion for a fantastic 10th time.
Presentation of prizes was followed by a lovely carvery. Also, there was a raffle for a Limited Edition Ryder Cup Royal Bank £5.
A superb £206 was raised on the night for Marie Curie, in memory of Kathleen McGoldrick who was a very active member of the club and will be sorely missed by all the ladies. Pictured are all the main prizewinners for 2014, with Fiona receiving her trophy from ladies captain, Catherine Duncan.
In the winter league on Saturday the wind strengthened as the morning wore on meaning low scoring was going to be a challenge. Rising best of all to that was the pairing of Graham McFarlane and Grant Robb, with seven birdies already in the bag a par 3 would get them to a combined gross score of 59, this was made tougher with Robb going out of bounds through the back and his partner finishing above the right hand bunker, the chip to 8 feet was to prove too difficult and the first bogey of the day was had at the eighteenth to secure a gross 60 nett 55.
Sunday golf is the order of the day just now for Kenny Duncan and Ian Wood who had their best gross score in winter tournament for many a day hitting 62 shots between them, form watch will be monitoring their efforts this Sunday after the gent’s prize giving on the Saturday evening. Mike Halliday and Stuart Campbell had equal best nett of the weekend with a 55.
Steve McGhie though his 41 points in Saturdays stableford was to be the best of the weekend but Alan Davidson had sniper like precision around the greens to beat him by one shot amassing 5 birdies with his only blemish a double bogey at the 2nd hole. Jim Hepburn aced the par 3 6th hole last Saturday playing a four iron.
Members attending the gent’s smoker this Saturday are asked to arrive at 7.15 pm for a 7.45 start. In the run up to Christmas Xmas meals will be available right up to the 23rd of December, all the details surrounding the various options are displayed on the clubs website or by visiting or contacting the clubhouse.
