Have your say

Winter league stalwarts awoke to grey skies and damp under foot conditions on Saturday morning but nevertheless a hardy few ventured out.

An hour later the heavens had opened and scuba gear would have been more the order of the day than Galvin Greens finest.

Hats off to Adam Smith and Jim Lonie for reaching the 8th. Weel maybe hats on given the conditions!!

Great to see the clubhouse full though with the snooker table well booked and coffee and a blether the order of the day for those watching the greens fill with water. Special mention must go to the most excellent apple and cinnamon scones that complemented the fresh ground coffee brilliantly.

Bookings are now being taken for our special festive menu throughout December as well as our Party Night on Friday 11th December (check facebook and website for details).

I’m sure many thought their golfing weekend was over at that .... but no, Sunday dawned dry but breezy and beckoned those that had missed Saturday to rock up re-energised for round 2 of the Winter League. Because the course had drained so well after Saturday’s deluge, a busy Sunday ensued. John Christie recorded a hole in one at the 8th hole on the Sunday – incredibly his second hole in one on the course this season. Remember if you want a piece of winter league action, winter golf membership is available from now till end of February for only £100.

Your correspondent had abandoned Stoney for the hallowed golfing grounds of St.Andrews and thoroughly enjoyed relieving former Dundee Utd. goalie Hamish MacAlpine of 50p in an energetic if not highly skilled round.

Members are reminded that bookings and payment for gents prizegiving night on 7th November are being taken now. A name that will be familiar to many, Frank Robb will be the speaker on the night – it should be an entertaining one!

And so to the leading weekend scores:
